Just heard a matey on Sky News sneer as he said populism, like it was a bad thing.
People say populism, which I take as normal people all liking the same thing as the way forward.
Do what the people want and it'll all be ok.

Simpletons love Populism I have watched them lap it up for the last 5 years in Turkey, the villagers who are uneducated can't get enough of it the first thing to go is the truth, then democracy gets the heave ho if at all possible when enough power is gained.
Erdogan is blaming banks bankers the West The media spy's from within spy's from abroad previous governments and their policies nothing is ever his or his administrations fault if a crater took out half of Turkey it would be because the west hated wonderful proud Turks and was jealous of how great and powerful Turkey had now become.

The educated, Professors at Universities, free thinkers, books yes even books are looked upon with suspicion.
The Media must all speak as one no descent against the populist movement, anyone who thinks differently is a traitor and hates their flag and are not really Turks they are Greeks or Armenian dogs or Pussies who love the West and not patriotic enough not religious enough , sound familiar ? .
Can you Imagine a country that tries to rate who is patriotic and who is not simply by who they vote for? well it is going on in America right now.

Nothing wrong with populism per se but I don't think thats what the issue is. I think populist politics is the problem, politicians who tap into what "normal" people like for the sake of achieving power.

There's a definite feeling that the term is being used to indicate something superficial, lacking in substance. Also, it seems to be an inference that other politics are more worthy, even if they are demonstrably failing.
Just another way of sneering when democracy doesn't produce the result you want.
